Update on COVID-19
Posted: March 13, 2020In these uncertain times, we wanted to reach out to you about the Halifax Partnership’s response to novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
At utmost concern is the public’s health and safety and reducing the risk of transmission. The Halifax Partnership is following the Province of Nova Scotia’s direction and protocols. This morning’s livestream update with Premier Stephen McNeil, Heath and Wellness Minister Randy Delorey, Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang, and Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Gaynor Watson-Creed included the following information and direction:
- At this time, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nova Scotia.
- Public sector employees who travel outside of Canada, including the United States, will be required to self-isolate when they return, for 14 days. Self-isolation measures apply to health-care workers, teachers, civil servants as well as students of public schools and children in regulated day care centres. The private sector is encouraged to take the same approach and support employees to self-isolate for 14 days after travelling outside of Canada.
- Encouraging Nova Scotians to limit social gatherings to no more than 150 people, to limit the spread of COVID-19.
- Encouraging Nova Scotians to follow the precautions, prevention and self-assessment information available on the Nova Scotia Government website: https://novascotia.ca/coronavirus/.
