Halifax Partnership Celebrates 25 Years of Growing Halifax

Halifax Partnership hosted its 2021 Annual General Meeting and 25th Anniversary yesterday at the Halifax Convention Centre with 100 business, government, and community leaders in attendance.

The Partnership shared highlights of its 2020-21 results and celebrated 25 years of growing Halifax with its private, public, and post-secondary Investors and partners.

“At Halifax Partnership we settle for nothing less than a vibrant and successful Halifax, even in the midst of a global pandemic,” said Wendy Luther, President and CEO of Halifax Partnership. “Helping our businesses and talent get through this challenging time and thrive in Halifax remain our top priorities as we continue to implement Halifax’s Economic Response and Recovery Plan and chart the course for the future.”

“For 25 years, Halifax Partnership has brought the voice and strength of private, public, post-secondary, and community partners together to invest in and drive economic development in Halifax,” said Mayor Mike Savage. “Their vision and collective impact can be seen in Halifax’s changing skyline, in our growing and diverse population, and in our innovative business community.”

Cory Bell, Chair of the Economic Growth Plan Advisory Committee of the Halifax Partnership Board of Directors, presented an update on the development of Halifax’s next five-year Economic Growth Plan for 2022-27 which is being led by Halifax Partnership and the Halifax Regional Municipality. The Partnership and the Municipality are engaging with businesses, partners, communities, and residents throughout Halifax to gather ideas, insights, and actions to build a more inclusive, sustainable, resilient, and prosperous Halifax over the next five years.

The Annual General Meeting, led by Ron L’Esperance, outgoing Chair of the Board, included the appointment of the 2021-22 Board of Directors. Halifax Partnership is governed by a 19-member Board of Directors representing a diverse cross section of Halifax business, government, and community leaders.
