Halifax Partnership Announces 2022-2023 Board of Directors and Launches Emerging Leaders and Innovators Advisory Board

Halifax, NS - June 30, 2022 - Halifax Partnership held its 2022 Annual General Meeting today at the Halifax Convention Centre with over 100 Investors, business leaders, and community members in attendance.

The Partnership shared results and achievements from 2021-2022 and announced its 2022-2023 Board of Directors and its inaugural Emerging Leaders and Innovators Advisory Board. Halifax Partnership’s team and network of private, public, and post-secondary investors and partners collectively helped hundreds of businesses, residents, and communities throughout the municipality recover from the pandemic and succeed last year.

During the AGM, four of 17 winners from the Halifax Innovation Outpost’s recent food and climate action challenges pitched their ideas and prototypes to improve security and decarbonize the Halifax economy. Presenting organizations included: One North End and The ReCover Initiative, Hope Blooms’ Solar Awnings, Hope Blooms’ Digital Currency Point of Sale (POS), and Easy Platter.

The Annual General Meeting, led by Rob Carruthers, outgoing Chair of the Board, included the appointment of the 2022-2023 Board of Directors. Halifax Partnership is governed by a 19 member Board of Directors representing a diverse cross section of Halifax business, government, and community leaders.

Cory Bell, Former Vice Chair of Halifax Partnership’s Board of Directors and Chair of the Economic Strategy Advisory Committee, was elected Chair of the Board. Cory is the President and CEO of Lindsay Construction and has been named a five-time Top 50 CEO by Atlantic Business Magazine.

“I truly believe that Halifax’s new inclusive economic strategy will help build a better city for both business and residents over the next five years and beyond,” says Bell. “Our ability to deliver on that promise hinges on all of us working together, and the private sector has a significant role to play. I’m excited to serve as Halifax Partnership’s new Chair of the Board, and I encourage the private sector to join the Partnership’s network and be part of building a better Halifax.”

Halifax Partnership’s Board of Directors also announced its inaugural Emerging Leaders and Innovators Advisory Board. This new board will provide business and community leaders aged 40 and under an opportunity to act as an advisory council, bringing new and diverse perspectives to the organization and its Board of Directors.
