Ebay Canada Launches Travelling Showcase to Feature Local Retailers from Retail Revival Program

eBay Canada has launched a traveling showcase display to feature local small-to-medium-sized retailers participating in the Retail Revival training program.

The seller showcase will travel to various high traffic locations across the city including:

• Halifax Waterfront at the Sands at Salter, by Amos Pewter: June to September 2019
• Port of Halifax: October to December 2019
• Stay tuned for details on the winter 2019 location.

Announced in January 2019, eBay selected Halifax as the first city in Canada to participate in the Retail Revival ecommerce training program. The city was selected based on the strength and diversity of its small business community, the growth opportunity for ecommerce and exporting from the local retail sector, and the region’s commitment to small business and its vision for local economic growth overall.

Over the past few months, 60 businesses from across the province have participated in the program which aims to strengthen local retail through ecommerce and global trade. The cohort businesses range in maturity, and category from maple syrup to dental equipment.

Throughout the onboarding phase of the program, participating businesses have had various training opportunities such as webinars and weekly one-on-one meetings with the eBay team. The common theme is they are all dedicated to finding new and better ways to grow their business. To date, 99% of the sales since the program began have been exports outside of the province.

With 8 months of the program remaining, eBay will continue to support businesses with the tools they need to develop their online store. One of the ways eBay is helping to give these sellers additional marketing support and exposure will be through a physical retail display that showcases their online stores.

The showcase display will feature 15 businesses at a time on a rotation. In the coming months, all 60 businesses in the cohort will have the opportunity to be featured.

The container was designed by a local company, District Co., built by a local fabricator, Saltbox with signage from a local graphic design studio, Imaginit Designs.
