You will find additional videos on this page below the toolkit.
Our Disaster Response Team connects impacted businesses to available resources and keeps you informed of new resources and updated information.
This step-by-step guide will help you put together a solid plan for your business, and what to do in the case of any unexpected disruptions. It’s always said to hope for the best and prepare for the worst, and with this plan, your business will be better ready for it all. Feel confident in tackling whatever comes your way and leading your employees through any challenges.
Use this guide to identify and understand your business’ key processes and resources. Mapping out each area such as personnel, supply chains, facilities, IT, and others will allow you to think ahead and analyze the potential impact of any disruption on each area.
Once you have the full picture of your business as it is now, determine how a disruption would affect each part of your business. You will also identify the minimum resources necessary to keep your business going.
Step 2 Resources:
- Use Step 1 resources
Use the templates to help identify any disruption risks to your business. For example, if you have a kayak rental company, a disruption risk would be the weather. Explore a variety of risk areas such as deliberate attacks, accidents, and natural disasters. Once this list is complete, think of ways you could safeguard against each risk. Get creative with your solutions and plans.
Identify gaps in critical resources along with possible options to resolve the gaps and reduce the risks your business is exposed to. Create a strategy for selecting the best solutions based on reasonable costs and timelines.
Use our templates to customize your continuity plan so you can respond to disruption, recovering faster and getting employees back to work as soon as possible.
Practice example scenarios, and conduct exercises and discussion-based simulations to test your business’ continuity plans with employees.
Step 6 Resources:
In our first webinar we cover the foundational principles of business continuity and resilience. Hear share stories of how businesses have effectively used their business continuity plans to respond to disruptions, both locally and across Canada.
