Get Noticed by Halifax Employers

Three winners will be awarded $1,000, $300 and $200 cash prizes!

This year, we are pleased to present a special additional prize in partnership with Stantec. Students who enter a #HireMeHalifax pitch video and meet the following criteria are also automatically entered for a chance to win the Stantec Bursary Award of $1,000:

  • A current post-secondary student in a STEM field
  • Returning for at least one more year of studies
  • An immigrant or newcomer to Canada

How to Submit a Pitch

Grab your smartphone and shoot a quick video telling Halifax employers why you should be their next hire. Think of it this way: if you met the CEO of your dream company and had only 30 seconds to introduce yourself, what would you say? What would you want them to remember about you?

Your pitch should include:

  1. Your name
  2. Your degree and field of work
  3. Whether you’re in search of a full-time or experiential learning opportunity
  4. Your career ambitions
  5. The type of company you want to work with
  6. What makes you stand out (relevant experience, soft and hard skills)

Pitch Criteria:

  • No more than 30 seconds long
  • Highlights your skills and what you can offer a business
  • Professional language and presentation
  • Business attire

Upload your video to YouTube and submit it. Select videos that meet the above criteria will be posted on the Partnership's social media platforms. This is your opportunity to pitch your skills to more than 20,000 people.

Networking Event Cancelled

Due to COVID-19, the Halifax Partnership has made the decision to cancel the #HireMeHalifax pitch competition and networking event on March 26. We are taking direction from the federal and provincial governments and following their requirements and guidelines. Although we are disappointed, we know this is the right decision in the best interest of our community’s health and safety.

We are identifying opportunities to facilitate online networking and connections between young talent and local employers. More information to come at a later date.
