Build Business Resilience

Create a solid plan to prepare and respond to disruptions, so you can get your business back on track as quickly as possible.

Business Recovery & Continuity Toolkit

COVID-19 has certainly shown us how quickly businesses can be disrupted. Some experienced dramatic downturns, while others experienced surges in demand for their products and services. A solid, tested business continuity plan can help get your business back on track quickly. This toolkit is designed to help small and medium sized businesses like yours prepare for unexpected disruptions and navigate through an ever-changing business threat landscape.

A business continuity plan helps you:

  • Understand your business systems, supply chains, human resources and other critical resources
  • Examine how each critical business activity is affected by a major disruption
  • Weigh the options for mitigating risks and recovering from disruptions
  • Communicate challenges and train your people
  • Develop response and recovery procedures
  • Develop resilience and continuity plans and continue to revise and adapt them

TOOLKIT

1. Context & Process Understanding

Identify and understand the key processes and resources in your business. This will allow you to map the personnel, supply chains, facilities, IT and other resources needed by each process and analyze the impacts of disruption.

2. Impact Analysis & Resource Requirements

Once you have the “business as it is now” picture, determine how disruption will affect each part of your business. You will also identify the minimum resources necessary for business survival.

3. Continuity Risk Assessment

Identify disruption risks to your business and select safeguards to treat each risk. Explore a variety of threats including deliberate attacks, accidents and natural disasters to calculate your risk exposure.

4. Resilience & Continuity Strategy

Identify gaps in critical resources along with possible options to resolve the gaps and risks your business is exposed to. Create a strategy for selecting the best solutions based on reasonable costs and timelines.

5. Plan Development

Tailor your continuity plans using the pre-developed templates to respond to disruptions and recover critical business processes, getting your employees back to work quickly after a disruption.

6. Plan Training & Exercising

Practice example scenarios and conduct exercises to test your continuity plans. With discussion-based simulations, use these sample exercise scenarios and escalations in workshops with employees.
