This position is open to a graduate student, an undergraduate in their last year of studies, or a recent graduate (recent is defined as in the last three years).

Purpose

The Business Attraction (FDI) Coordinator is responsible for supporting the outward facing Business Attraction Team as it relates to the attraction of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into Halifax.

This position is responsible for assisting with development of prospect lists, business research, competitive intelligence gathering and presentation preparations. The position will work collaboratively with the research team on customized information requirements.

The Halifax Partnership has an outward facing FDI program known as “Sell Halifax” which markets Halifax’s TCL+I (Talent, Location and Cost + Innovation) value proposition to new business prospects in key markets and within key high wage/high growth sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying and qualifying leads in target markets through such programs as LinkedIn, Crunchbase, customized lead lists, and other sources
  • Data input into Salesforce to monitor and track the FDI sales funnel
  • Conducting pre-meeting research and creating targeted PowerPoint visuals to support pitch presentations for sales meetings in coordination with other business units including Marketing and Research
  • Scheduling and coordinating meetings in priority FDI markets
  • Conducting post-meeting analysis with the Business Attraction team, gathering relevant information to be forwarded to prospective clients, including developing customized reports for companies evaluating expansion into Halifax, in coordination with the Research and Marketing teams
  • Conducting research on Halifax Partnership’s key sectors, geographic locations and events/trade shows for the team
  • Preparing materials for trade shows/events
  • Assisting with collecting/building key materials that will contain useful sector information and templates to use in future meetings and calls
  • Conduct research and competitive intelligence on companies and create company profiles, both independently and with other team members and consulting organizations.

Qualifications

Education

  • A degree in business, marketing, or other related discipline

Experience

  • Background in a business or sales environment

Skills

  • Ability to collaborate with partners across multiple organizations and community groups
  • Knowledge and understanding of industry sectors in Halifax and Nova Scotia
  • Proven high-level verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent database management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to meet organizational objectives
  • Superior time management and organizational skills with the ability to plan, organize and prioritize work independently is a must
  • Excellent follow-up skills
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft products and CRM/Database
  • Proficiency in Salesforce considered an asset
