Hire Global Talent

Employers in Nova Scotia can use the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP), the Nova Scotia Nominee Program, and the Global Talent Stream to hire international workers to fill immediate labour needs. The Halifax Partnership can help you find which program suits your needs and guide and support your business through these processes.

Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)

The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) is a federal immigration stream that helps employers in Atlantic Canada recruit skilled foreign talent and international graduates to meet their labour needs.

This new employer-driven program makes it easier to recruit and hire skilled international talent by speeding up and streamlining the process. Halifax Partnership provides free consultation and support services for employers in the Halifax region who wish to become designated to hire through the Atlantic Immigration Program.

Nova Scotia Nominee Program

The Nova Scotia Nominee Program offers opportunities for employers in Nova Scotia to fill the labour needs by hiring talent globally. With this program, you'll be able to recruit international talent meeting the program criteria. Some of the streams included under this program are:

  • Skilled Worker
  • Occupations in Demand
  • Critical Construction Worker Pilot

Global Talent Stream

As a Designated Referral Partner, the Halifax Partnership refers eligible Halifax employers and helps guide them through the application process. The Global Talent Stream:

  • Allows your business to hire a Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) to fill unique and specialized positions
  • Helps your business expand and compete on a global scale
  • Allows certain skilled workers to obtain a work permit within two weeks of applying

Connect with Emerging and International Talent in Halifax

The Connector Program matches new immigrants and recent graduates (Connectees) in Halifax with established business and community leaders (Connectors) like you. Connectors are you and me. They’re business owners and operators, managers, civil servants and community leaders. Whether you only have a few years of experience or are a C-level executive, we all have the potential to be Connectors, and it pays off for everyone involved.

What we can do to help:

  • Connect you to a diverse talent pool of pre-screened local and international graduates and skilled immigrants
  • Offer a meaningful, “light ask” volunteer experience that has a big impact on our community.
  • Provide an opportunity to demonstrate leadership by increasing inclusion, diversity and talent retention

Program staff meet with Connectees to discuss their backgrounds and ensure they’re “job ready”. Each Connectee is matched with a Connector based on industry experience and professional backgrounds. An introduction email is sent to the Connector and Connectee to set up a meeting.

The Connector and Connectee meet for 30 minutes online or over the phone to discuss industry details, skills and areas of expertise, related news, current market demands and hidden job opportunities in Halifax.

Connectors then refer the Connectee to a minimum of three people in their network. These referrals may be potential employers, influential leaders within their industry or others who may benefit from meeting with a skilled professional.
